RE: It's time to severely limit student tickets.

The alumni, locals, and general public are not buying them either. Thus the empty seats in plenty of non-student sections throughout the stadium (SEZ, Sunshine Seats, etc). Our old section (59) is a ghost town at the top and it has been since the 2010 season for most games. Meanwhile in section 3 we are packed in every week.

Student tickets are $20 per game (so $140 this year)... reasonable for you and me... but asking a student for $140 over the summer results in a bunch of "no thank you" answers. That is quite the commitment for this generation of students. They (UAA) need to a) suck it up and lower the price for student tickets and b) make it easier for students to sell their tickets if they cannot go or do not charge a big add on to bring a friend to the game.

They also need to do something with the face value on regular game tickets. Face value vs SC this week is $70... good luck getting a family of four to shell out $280 for the game Saturday... before gas, food, etc.

I am dumb enough to go to every home game but not everyone is wired like me. The 3-1-3 that we have this year for home games does not help either. Three consecutive weeks of driving to and from Gainesville from out of town can be a little much. Luckily my drive is a little less than an hour and a half.

1.) this is what we get for selling out the soul of the school, Florida Kids, for the higher SAT scores from out of state or international students. The students we are admitting couldn’t care less about the Football team.

2.) no considerations for Alumni’s kids, in the Admissions process. There should be some allowance for a top 10% student that is the son or daughter of an alumni.

3.) Pricing arrogance. I gave up my season tickets when I moved out of the Terrace, to a bench seat section (lots of tailgate friends there), and the next year, Boosters wanted the same booster fee as the Terrace. Uh, no... you don’t get a $3k booster fee for section 15.

There is a disconnect between the Boosters, ticket office, and the product on the field. The school has abandoned the decades and decades of loyalty built through legacy of families raising their kids to be Gators, by going to games, and parades and homecomings, only to find out that their straight A, Honor Society, 1500 SAT kid can’t be accepted to their Alma Mater.

Add to that, The inexplicable, poor coaching hires, and poor performance on the field, and Alumni are asking themselves ‘What am I buying?’

I am sincerely hoping that Coach Dan Mullen is going to turn this around.
