::::>"It'll be interesting," Spurrier said. "If they do (boo), that's OK. I've always said that you can't make everybody in the world happy. I think most Gator fans understand why I'm at South Carolina."
He thinks most Gator fans understand why he's at South Carolina?? How could that possibly be? He won't just come out and say why, so we are left to speculate. There is no one reason that "most Gator fans understand." Which one of these reasons is it, Steve? I've heard every one of these in speculation by Gator fans, and not one opinion is held by "most Gator fans."
- I felt I had accomplished all I could, so I looked for a new challenge. It never occurred to me that my coaching at a conference division rival would be a problem for folks at UF, or if it did, I didn't care.
- I was insulted by "the process" so I decided to go somewhere where my past accomplishments were more important than my future commitment to the program.
- I thought it beneath me to justify why I could be counted on to stick around this time after having resigned so unexpectedly last time, so I bolted to South Carolina where they didn't care about all that silly commitment stuff.
- I wanted to come back but the Bull Gators didn't want me, so I bolted to South Carolina where the rich fans love me.
- I wanted to come back but that Machen guy pretended like he didn't know me and it hurt my feelings, so I bolted to South Carolina where the president adores me.
- I decided that I couldn't work for Jeremy Foley again, so I bolted to South Carolina where the athletic director kisses my feet.
- I decided that Florida fans had unrealistic expectations, so I bolted to South Carolina where the fans would be thrilled with a six-win season.
- I wanted to come back but the Bull Gators didn't want me, so I bolted to South Carolina because I wanted to stick it to the Bull Gators.
- I wanted to come back but that Machen guy pretended like he didn't know me and it hurt my feelings, so I bolted to South Carolina because I wanted to stick it to Bernie Machen.
- I decided that I couldn't work for Jeremy Foley again, so I bolted to South Carolina because I wanted to stick it to Jeremy Foley.
- I decided that Florida fans had unrealistic expectations, so I bolted to South Carolina because I wanted to stick it to those Gator fans.
- My dear old friend Lou convinced me that South Carolina was the place for me (and that only I could clean up the mess he was about to leave them in).
- I was scared that I could never live up to the expectations of my prior accomplishments, so I went somewhere where I could enjoy my last few years of coaching without all the pressure.
These are just a few reasons Gator fans think you left, Steve...there are many more. Please feel free to tell us all the real reason.
