This year's UF OL is the the youngest and thinnest UF has had in a while, and compared to the best teasm in the nation doesn't have enough upperclassmen to be a top OL.
UF is only playing 7 OL. Out of those 7
1 is a 5th year player (Jorgy)
0 are 4th year players (this reflects fact that UF signed NO OL in 1999)
2 are 3rd year players (Snell and Starks)
3 are 2nd year players (Colon, Michell and Degory)
1 is a 1st yearplayer (Hand)
Compare this to UM's OL:
4 of the 2 deep OL are 5th year players
2 are 4th year players
2 are 3rd years
2 are 2nd years
Now Oklahomas:
4 of its 2 deep are 5th year players
1 is a 4th year
3 are 3rd years
2 are 2nd years
Alos compare thisyear's OL to UF's best teams:
In 1995 UF had 4 4th year starters Odom, Green, Mitchell and Young, the starting Ol as a whol;e had over 120 colective starts
In 1996
Mitchell and Young returned as 5th years, Mo Collins as a 3rd year redshirt sophomore, and 2 2nd years kalich and Yarbrough..even w/ 2 redshirt freshman starting, this unit had over 70 collective starts
This year's Ol has 43, and 23 of those are 1 player, Jorgy, who got the majority of his starts only b/c Zac Zedalis couldn't stay healthy.
I don't like how the offense looks or performs any more than you do, but before anyone calls for the coaches heads, realize that the OL is a year or 2 away from being a solid unit. its just too young now.
