defense again ? No guarantees that he stays. Firing a coach after one season without even giving him a chance to bring in his own players is not the way the University of Florida does business. We are a class organization and don't make those kind of moves. Ron Zook has given this team character. Sure the players are not going to say negative things in the press, but they do have a choice, they don't have to say anything. There is not one indication that any of the players are unhappy with Zook as head coach. It shows in their play and it shows in the statements they have made. It showed in the Georgia game when the team came together on the field in the fourth quarter. That display was something you didn't see under Spurrier. Zook is a players coach and he knows how to motivate. He is not an offensive genius. I am not sure Zaunbrecker is either yet, but that is for Ron Zook to evaluate at the end of the season.
The telling sign is going to be how well Ron Zook can recruit. I don't see how any body can judge how well he is going to do here until we see what type of players want to come and play for him. I suspect he will recruit better than Spurrier. That is Ron Zook's strength.
If the players had lost confidence in the head coach, you would have a point. But they have not. They have rebounded from earlier losses and played with heart to be on the brink of another SEC East title. I would like to have not lost to Ole Miss and LSU, but we did. The important thing is that we did not fall apart, instead the team has come together. That is a reflection of the head coach.
Fans such as yourself like to paint a gloom and doom picture of the future of Florida football. If everyone thought like you did, it could very well be a self full-filling prophesy. I prefer to be part of the solution, not the problem. In fact, I have emailed my support to Ron Zook and Jeremy Foley and received nice responses in reply. One guaranteed they would get the job done and that they would not let me down. This was after the LSU game. They have not let me down yet. Whatever happens the rest of the season, I am not going to give up on this coaching staff. I am going to give them a chance to succeed. That is all any head coach would ask for. If we don't give it to this coaching staff, don't think that other coaches are going to be lined up to come here.
