With this year's O-line and what this team has had to learn in such a short period of time I would say SOS never faced a schedule like this years under those circumstances! He even stated earlier in the season that the team he inherited in 90 was more talented. The chemistry of this team is the best it has been in years IMHO. Up until the last few weeks we have had the least injuries that I can remember in recent years. Graham is playing hurt and Carthon has fumbleitis as well as not picking up his feet like Ronnie Brown does when he runs. Combine that with an inconsistent O-line and a brace wearing beaten up QB and you get an average rushing game. Rex struggled in this offense and played poorly in all three losses and the coaches made mistakes early on but IMHO the O-line needs the most work and we need to recruit some great O and D line in off season. A Gavin Dickey or an Ingle Martin seem better suited for Zaun's O schemes. Measuring the team against SOS teams is silly at this point. Hoke was replaced by a GREAT D staff that I'll agree! Perez and Jacobs are both out and a walkon TE scores a TD?????? The remaining WRs stepped it up last night. We have won four in a row despite some horrible ST play and inconsistency on Offense. Zook held this team together even with all the horrible play. I believe that last night's game showed that given time to throw Rex does a good job. Strong didn't blitz as much and the line with Mitchell and Hand seemed to do a better job against this D in subbing for Colon and Jorgy. Look at UGA's roster for O-line it's all SENIORS. Look at the UF roster! We beat UGA and UT when they were ranked in the top five. Positives? Last night after finding out that UGA won the UF team played their most consistent game of the season! I'll quote Carl Sagan's Contact GP and just say,"LITTLE STEPS". If we can beat FSU and win our bowl game we finish 10-3. We are on track to have a GREAT recruiting season IMHO. Losing to OLE MISS and LSU like we did was awful and has left us out of the loop despite sweeping the SEC EAST. I still remember how UF fell apart in 99 only to get to Atlanta and lay an EGG after we GOT WHAT WE WISHED FOR ENDING WITH BAMMER SECOND WIN BY 30-7. In SOS's defense Lynn Swann commented that year that SOS might have done his best coaching job ever just to get through that season and to Atlanta. I'm dissapointed we lost to OLE MISS most of all but I see a lot of positives in the face of so much change this season. The Seniors never lost to UGA that is always a POSITIVE. We will miss this talented wonderful group of seniors but they have given us THE LEADERSHIP we needed this year. Proud of every one of em.
