I hate Alabama. I also really, really respect them. I went to that game last year in Tuscaloosa. It was my first trip to that game, and I was looking forward to the trip immensely. I loved the Quad, I loved the fans, I loved the Tri-Delt House and the sweet girls who chatted with us for a few moments while my wife used the restroom. I loved their passionate versions of Rammer Jammer and Sweet Home Alabama and the "This is Alabama Football" cheer. It was truly southern football at its finest. They showed us what Alabama football was all about. To paraphrase a decent line from the movie Top Gun: That was maybe some of the best southern college football experiences I'd ever seen, right up until the point we got killed. Even after the game, folks were great. We had dinner at the Blue Star Diner in Bessmer and had a great chat with all the Bama fans there. Everyone was very excited, and very cool. To sum it all up. It SUCKED. Big time! :-) Now, it's our turn. I want those fans, those coaches, those students those cheerleaders, those equipment managers, those team chaplains, those players and everyone else associated with Alabama football to get a first class dose of what Florida football is all about. THIS can be our statement game (until next week and the week after that and so on and so on). Remember the 1990 season? We all knew Spurrier was going to bring us back. We all knew we were good, but we didn't really have a solid idea of how good we actually were. Then, Auburn came to town, and we played a statement game. Every gator involved with that game knew that a new era had truly been ushered in that night. Saturday can be a big statment game for us. Sure, Bama won't come in with the credentials that Auburn did that night, but it is still Alabama. It's national TV. It's a showcase for us and for Chris Leak. I want everyone in the SEC to watch that game and think to themselves: "They're back". I want everyone to see that THIS IS FLORIDA FOOTBALL. I'll be passing out shots and going nuts with the rest of my fellow Coloradans with the Rocky Mountain Gator Club on Saturday. Please know that I'll be there with all of you in spirit. Remember- One voice Saturday, no voice Sunday. Go Gators!
