Or I would feel truly blessed that I get the chance to go to our
home games and enjoy them for the exciting, fun events they are instead
of having to read the bitching and moaning and complaining and whining
and crying and insults and threats and overwhelming buzzkill that so
many of our fans bring to the table here. Sure things aren't smooth on
offense, and yes the defense got moved on toady. Play calling sucked
at times, we needed a triple cock block to win, the defense never came
up with a three-and-out, etc., but fortunately I don't get the awful
blast of negativity until I'm home after I've already had time to
celebrate a win.
I had a blast today. I got an aide to stay with my mom and snuck out
for 8 hours. I drank a couple of pitchers of Newcastle with my best
friends as we watched Auburn get it Dawggie style and then went to the Swamp and saw a very, very
entertaining game that the team I love the most in the world actually
won! The emotion and electricity was fantastic. It was exciting, it was in doubt, but for me the good guys won.
That was soooo cool. It was FUN! The players went nuts on the field,
no one left the stands until 10-15 minutes after the final whistle.
EVERYONE sang the alma mater. I was actually proud to be a Gator, at
least for a little while. I'm not blind to our shortcomings and
weaknesses, but neither am I blind to 9-1. This never happened before
the loser of today's game was our coach. It's the first time it's ever
happened when he wasn't our coach. I'm sorry we haven't done it in
such a fashion as to make everyone ecstatic, but the fact remains we've
done it. And despite the bad mouthing and hand wringing we're going to
be 10-1 after next week's game. Ask the fans of Cal, or Auburn, or
Tennessee, or FSU, or Georgia, or about 110 other D-I teams if they'd
like to swap places with UF. #badword# style points - how'd that work out
for Louisville?
I'm going to keep enjoying the wins and not dwell on how they
could have been better. I'm not going to worry about how we can't play
like this and beat good teams. I'm going to cheer like mad and hope
that maybe, just maybe, this team will play well enough to win out. I
watch Gator football because it's fun, I don't watch it to find fault
and show how right I was by pointing out my team's failings. Close
wins, improbable plays to seal a victory, come what may I'll enjoy the
Ws and walk away with a smile after each and every one. Forget blonds,
Pollyanna has more fun.
