The sister of one of our close friends is dying of cancer and learned yesterday that she has only weeks, maybe days, to live.  I did not know her very well but did enjoy trading good-natured barbs about the Noles and Gators.  She is an FSU grad.  I remember seeing her minutes after we lost to Mississippi State a couple years ago.  I was depressed and was moping around but I knew she was at her brother's house across the street from us and I figured I better go over and get the humiliation out of the way.  The first thing she said "dang, it's not even fun when you guys lose anymore".  It gave me a good laugh and allowed me to forget about the game.  If only I knew how insignificant it all was.  Earlier this year it was discovered that she had cancer and since she wasn't in good health already, the doctors did not give her a good prognosis.  She went through a series of treatments and surgeries but her condition continued to decline.  About a month ago they told her that all hope was lost and she had only months to live.  Her family was still holding out hope that she would make it through so that diagnosis was a crushing blow to all of them.  Things have gotten dramatically worse since then and it is not likely that she will live to see 2007.  I imagine that some of you have gone through this with a family member and you have my deepest sympathy for these unimaginable circusmstances.  There are many moments that provide us with much-needed perspective and this is certainly one of those. 

So this one time just for her....GO NOLES!!!
