can you believe the University of Florida has won NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in both Mens Basketball and Football in the same year?  Not only that...but it is the FIRST TIME that has EVER been done in the HISTORY of college athletics!!

Just soak that in for a moment please.

It's just so surreal and we as fans, particularly as fans living in the age of the Internet and with access to so much information and interaction with other fans should really not take it for granted. 

I can so clearly remember the days following my leaving Gainesville and moving back to South Florida.  Charley Pell was our coach and we were just making a splash in what was then the Top 20.  I remember being so hungry for any tidbit of Gator info I could find...buying Sports Illustrated because there was a blurb about Wilbur Marshall or Tony Lilly in it.  Buying a VCR the size of a microwave oven and taping the Pell shows on Sunday morning.  Sitting in my car listening to the high pitched, static-filled sounds of a Vandy game on the AM radio.  Then, as years went by, dreading opening the paper every morning as the NCAA investigation unraveled in such a painfully slow and never ending nightmare.  A Miami program peaking.  An FSU program peaking.  Probation for us.  No respect, particularly for a Gator in South Florida.

Fast forward to now.  Logging onto a website with a couple hundred friends who share your passion and share whatever info and propaganda they can with you every day as we all rejoice in one of the most glorious and historic accomplishments by a University athletic program in the history of university athletics.

Just soak it in.
