"SEC Basketball Tourney Weekend........."

I finally got a few mins to post some impressions from the weekend. WOW!! What a terrific weekend!! AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!! ;-) As I sit here with this big ol' grin plastered on my face, I find it hard to find the exact words to convey how proud I am of this team and how GREAT IT is to be a Florida Gator!! (Deep in enemy territory)!! Hell, I feel so good it's like I won the tourney myself!! ;-) I was lucky enough to attend both the semifinal game on Saturday and the final on Sunday and had fabulous tickets both days (7-8 rows off the floor). It just doesn't hardly get any better!! The stands full of screaming Gator fans, each individual player and the team playing at a high level. Top notch coaching from the entire staff (Need to give Larry Shyatt a bunch of credit) We just totally dominated & destroyed the rest of our SEC competition this weekend. UGA scored 14 points in the first half!! I was watching that game in a sports bar siting between two UGA fans including one who played OL for UGA and neither one had anything derogatory to say about the UF program (How rare is that!!) LOL!! Have you ever seen a college defense like we saw the first half from Florida?? At 28 to 4 the dogs were beaten but good!! Totally out classed Old Miss. We just had WAAAAY too much talent . In the opening 5 mins and especially in the second half, UF was relentless - like waves pounding on the shore, never stopping. We didn't block every shot but we sure made them alter almost every single shot inside. They had to go just a bit higher, hold it a bit longer or, just a bit further right & it would cause them to miss & bounce it off the rim. The 3 big guys owned the middle. Then it was Green for 3, Hump for 3, Horford for 2 from 14 feet out, Brewer a steal and a feed to Noah leading the fast break!! Richards for 2 on a put back, Hodge slashes through the middle......and still the Gators came with 2 men defending and smothering the Old Miss players 30 feet out away from the basket!! WOW!! Talk in the Atlanta newspaper this week has been that this may be a, "Team for the ages". That kind of talk makes me cringe a little but hey, it may very well be true!! You knew, Just KNEW, that the GATORS would not be denied on Sunday. I went with BBG and we used his CNN parking slot just across the street from the Dome - Nice. Scalped 3 tickets on the floor for just 15 dollars over face. Same M.O. from the Gators - Too much talent and just relentless - especially in the second half. Although they were playing relaxed you could see that the guys just wanted to SCORE!! T. Green is cool as a cucumber. Doesn't that kid ever get rattled?? IMO, Horford is the most NBA ready. He can muscle it inside but if they double and push him out & he says "OK" and I'll take another step out, turn around and shoot it in your face (from 12-15 feet out). What a sweet shot!! Brewer is fast as hell and is always going for it. Sometimes he gets into trouble and it's a turnover but then he comes down court dribbles through 3 men and goes up with one hand from the foul line to lay it in. I guess you can't come down and be tentative if you re going to make those kind of plays...... Then Noah blast past the top of the Key, steals the ball from the guard at mid-court and takes it the other way for a slam!! LOL!! The four hog fans in front of us left right after that!! (So how could a Gator living in Atlanta miss this?? There were plenty of tickets available on the street and you could have easily gotten into the Dome for Less than Face Value!! Anyway.............) BACK to BACK to BACK SEC Championships!! The coronation afterwards was terrific. Four players on the all tourney team and Horford Tourney MVP (I called that one). Wearing new Championship hats and shirts, kissing parents and cutting down the nets (AGAIN!!) I was SO tickled to see the boyz dance and have a GREAT time. What a lucky bunch of guys. Can you imagine?? It sure is GREAT to be A FLORIDA GATOR!!

"Honestly, we've played a lot better teams than them," Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss said. "I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them and play the same type of game we did against them."
