June, July and August are when people care about college football.  Who won what bowl game in January is irrelevant, the three to four months leading up toe the season are when people really care.  The people who know what they're talking about get together, discuss the prior season and come up with which team is superior based on reputation and conjecture!  That's what counts.

 Injuries, coaching mistakes, stupid plays, fumbles, interceptions...all these are wild card factors that shouldn't play into which team is considered the best, but too often they do.  Bowl games are political, preseason polls aren't.

 I'm a college football fan.  A true fan who values recruiting and projected stats and abilities.  The games are what have lead us, as fans, to point to a glowing sign and chant "scoreboard".  Haven't we all been there?  That's why I like to bring my copys of preseason rags to games and point to them, if my team is losing and say, "It's in print!  It's real journalism by men of prestige with degrees!"

 If that doesn't work I also bring an empty wild turkey bottle to throw at the "scoreboard" taunters.
