Foley and Machen played this very well. When Billy said he was leaving Foley goes to his house tot alk to him. Does he try and sell UF or appeal to Billy's loyalty, trying to change his mind. Nope, he talks about the good run they had and the fond memories he'll have of Billy's time in Gainesville. I believe that talk, as much as anything, at least started to swing Billy back to understanding what he was leaving. Some people are slow learners. It took Billy a little while to apply two of the lesson the 04s taught us all:
- Friendship and loyalty are more valuable than anything
- Writing history can be more fulfilling and satisfying than taking the money.
