"Guess I'm just philosophical tonight...."

I'm sure SG will pound me...as he has many times in the past....

Sports. What a strange phenonomnen that has brought us all together, yet is just only a part of what we are here on this board. It binds us. It binds families. Here and far. Different societies...different sports. Yet it brings everyone together.

We live and die for our sports. For our Gators. Somehow, we feel like we are in Billy's kitchen around the table with him. Commiserating. But, of course, we're not.

I played sports my entire life growing up. Football, basketball, baseball. Yes, baseball, the only thing I was far better at than average.

I had a kid. A daughter. I followed her around all over South Florida watching her and her dance team. They were pretty good. I forget what it's called.

Now I have a seven year old grandson. The boy I never had. Playing coach-pitch for East Boynton Little League. Same folks that won the National Championship a couple years ago.

I love it. Last two years, with the same group of kids, is as much fun as I've ever had. On the field before the game just playing catch. Spending hours tossing balls so the kids can hit them off a fence. Taking them to Roger Dean Stadium so they can run out on the field with the minor league players for the Star Spangled Banner. Out on the field during the games and being able to stop the whole thing to say, "nope, not that way...this is what you've got to do." I'll really miss it once he gets more developed and they won't let me on the field anymore. C'est la vie.

Where would we be without sports? Would all of us have gotten together in this strange little cyberworld? How would we ever get as much enjoyment without it?

I'm done. Hack away.
