rules of all sporting devotion,allegiance, fidelity, loyalty etc....

1. if you are not a Gator then you are Gator Bait.

2. if circumstance calls for one not to allow one  not to attend the University of Florida for an undergraduate education

(regretfully this is happening more and more) then one must remember rule 1.... but for the duration of the tenure of the undergraduate years one must be true to the entity which you are involved in. This includes typically all the nastiness that comes along with the ride.... icky colors, goulish traditions, stupid mascots etc. The only exception to this is the chop and barking...no person is ever required to do that!

3. if your academic credentials don't merit acceptance to UF for graduate or professional school there is absolutly no need to attain anything more than an academic loyalty to that U. While it may not be appropriate to be vocal or ill mannered toward your post graduate institution there is nothing wrong with pure love for the Gators at this point. This is especially true for Gator Nation grads who go on to school elsewhere.

4.Try to avoid mixed marriages and relationships if possible. It just leads to problems! Those outside the Gator Nation just don't understand that UF will be your first and last love. This is especially true for those thinking about something long term with someone from a rival. This is really almost impossible and has led many to misery, compromise of real values and worse. Imagine how hard this will be for offspring...I've seen it with plenty of kids not knowing what they really are... although strong Gator genes usually prevail as the child grows.

5. While these rules may not be valid for the unwashed of the worls ...if ever there is doubt about any of this remember rule 1!
