The Shot Doctor (66.82.9.28) on 12/29/2002 - 7:45 p.m. says: ( 94 views )

"For me, it is two things."

First, it is not about her personally or her personality. The two things are: 1. Her political views. She and Pelosi are the closest things to socialists we have in the Congress at this time. In Europe, they would just go ahead and call her a socialist, but for some reason (see #2) Hillary seems to duck this label in the USA (although it sticks like glue anyway). In summary, she is dangerous because she would send this country to the ruinous philosophy of Germany, Sweden, or even Cuba as fast as she could blink, and it would be very difficult to undo the damage she would cause. This is much, much different than most Democrats, such as Bob Graham. 2. She is completely duplicitous, at least in her political practices. Maybe one could argue this is about her personality, but I would assert I see too many fatal flaws in her character. She puts the country in a tertiary priority relative to her individual political prestige and to the overall Democrat political machine. In fact, I doubt she cares much about the well-being of the country at all relative to her political power base. Bill Clinton did not have anything near this kind of disregard, and I write that despite his selling nuclear launch technologies to the Chinese! Hillary and Daschle are the only two Dems in power right now who would sell their souls to the devil (figuratively) if it meant they could win an important election. There are few people in politics who would have this combination of motives. Maybe one could point to a Republican or Independent politician with similar flaws, except coming from a way far-out yet non-socialist perspective (Pat Buchanan and Ross Perot come to my mind). The point is this: while Hillary may not be alone in her treachery, her treachery exists nonetheless. She is far from a clone of Bill. While Bill Clinton did a lot of good things to accompany his screw-ups, I thing most conservatives and really anyone who likes the governmental frame work established by our Constitution would see Hillary as someone who must be stopped from accomplishing her political goals. I wish people would not focus on her being ugly or being in a politically convenient marriage to try to stop her, however. Doing such as this sinks to her level. Just showing her political views for what they really are is more than enough to defeat her. There are a lot of smart, assertive people in both parties. It is no reason to vote for anyone, in my view. By the way, Hillary is also a huge hypocrite, as are quite a few other members of Congress. In her case, her public agenda was often focused on getting recognition that women can do things for themselves and that the needs of women are just as important as the needs of men (with which I agree). However, for the last two or three decades, especially since 1990 or so, she has ridden the coattails of her famous husband -- doing everything she denounced elsewhere -- to get positions of influence she could never get otherwise. She is no different than Marge Schott (Reds) and Ginger Frontiere (sp?) (Rams) in that regard, despite her appeals to recognize women for what they have done on their own. It is a pathetic display in my view, and I think it cheapens the accomplishments of people like you and Leisure and my wife and maybe, one day, my daughter.
