"Psst...Junie Jones...Here Is Your 'System'..." |
|
This has got to be German, but I am really compelled to write this...so shoot me... Much has been said about June Jones' comments on ESPN...I had the misfortune to be watching when he made his comments, and my blood pressure has just now gotten down to a level that permits me to write this response...somehow Jones thinks because he 'believes' his quarterback, Colt Brennan, will be successful in the NFL, that somehow such 'predicted' NFL success translates into the better college quarterback...and now we hear how so many fans have called, written, and emailed him to thank him for pointing out how Florida's Tim Tebow is just a 'system product'...then you see how many of those supposedly intelligent fans supporting Jones' opinion are FSU fans...go figure... Hell, every college quarterback is a system product...what coach out there doesn't recruit a quarterback that fits his offensive system...???...and who gives a rat's ass if that coach's college offense is not played at the NFL level...nowhere is it written that a college quarterback has to be a predicted star NFL quarterback in order to be the best college player...if that was the case, our idiot 'Nolie friends would never have seen Charlie Ward get a single Heisman vote...in fact, quite a few Heisman winners would not have been invited to the Heisman presentation at all...but, I digress... I can't help but wonder why June Jones is not on the hottest coach available list for at least an Offensive Coordinator at almost all teams in the NFL...his astute evaluation of talent should make him worth a king's ransom to at least 1/2 of the NFL...any coach who can pick out the player that would succeed in ANY of the NFL offenses must surely be worth something...sheeze, here I go digressing again... Florida has a system and Hawaii has a system...the Gators happen to have a system that utilizes the spread offense...but upon looking a bit closer, and it doesn't take 20/20 vision either, we find that Hawaii also has another 'system' at work for them...as a previous poster here noted a couple of days ago, Hawaii has a 'scheduling' system...let's compare the two teams... Hawaii is 12 - 0 compared to Florida at 9 - 3 Hawaii has played two teams with a winning record, Florida has played nine teams with a winning record Hawaii and Florida have each played a team with a .500 record Hawaii has played two Division 1-AA teams, Florida has played none Hawaii has played three teams that are bowl bound, Florida has played seven teams that are bowl bound Hawaii has played opponents with a combined winning record of 53 - 92, winning percentage of 37%, Florida has played opponents with a combined winning record of 88 - 58, winning percentage of 60% Strength of schedule is absurd for Hawaii...my crippled Fuzzy Aunt Lula could play and compete with the Hawaii opponents... Nobody, except for Jones and the Noles, would ever think the Western Athletic Conference was anywhere near the Southeastern Conference when evaluating the level of competition... Well Junie...how about you make a simple comparison to see what everyone else does...an undefeated season is good, but not when you play subpar competition...you cannot make a statement that Colt Brennan would flourish in any system when he does not play against top level competition within even his own conference, let alone teams from 1-AA...I am beginning to understand the delusion of Jones and why he is not coaching in the NFL and instead chose to coach a team from a pitiful conference... Let's not fail to recognize that Hawaii has played some good teams from superior conferences; and they have won some of those games...but, when you play so many subpar teams, you don't get beat up so much and you don't have to get the team up for every game...much easier to get up for one or two games per year and to know your team is substantially healthy from battling only wimpy teams...everyone recognizes what Boise did last year, but how many years and how many games did it take before it happened...same for Michigan this year...a vast majority of the time, the big boys win those games and they win them handily...that is why we schedule them for tuneup games... Good luck to Hawaii in the bowl games...but next time Jones decides to grandstand, he should do it from the stage of top level competition over a full season, and not from the stage of the weak and downtrodden...too bad you are on the other end of the world and are stuck in a weenie conference...but at least show the common sense of a gnat and think clearly before you speak...and, for the love of God, please get some fans besides those pathetic 'Noles who have nothing to look forward to but to back preposterous claims with no intent other than to discredit their superiors from Gainesville... |
