Last night I found myself feeling giddy over the outcome of a football game which did not have my team in it. As LSU dismantled osu, I realized that It's Great to be a Florida Gator and part of that is being in the SEC. Our conference champs made me proud, even though they were not wearing Orange and Blue. They played with passion for the game that the Big 10 just doesn't get. Best of all, they represented the SEC well.
At the end of the game, it was great to hear the fan base chanting, "SEC, SEC, SEC...". Not to be out done; the LSU players soon began a chant of their own, "SEC, SEC, SEC...". Those three letters are probably still ringing in the buckeye's heads this morning. But think about what the rest of the nation is dealing with. How could a team be so proud of their accompishment to chant for their conference? Imagine northern recruits watching that game. Where do they want to play? Who do they want to play against? Try to understand how Michigan is feeling right now. Hell they won their bowl game, but the talk was about their last bowl when they were destroyed by USC and then their loss to a 1-aa team earlier this season. How could a conference bring such negativity to a team that won against the same conference??? SEC! SEC! SEC!
It's three little letters, but it means a whole lot more. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that B-I-G-T-E-N doesn't roll off the toungue so eloquently... or maybe it's much more than that. I grew up in Indiana and I know, first hand, they don't understand. It's an SEC thing.
