The island is a metaphor for SEC football and the universe it inhabits.  Just look at the characters:

Jack is Ron Zook – it’s fixable.

Kate is Urban Meyer – everybody wants her.

Sawyer is Ole Miss - attracts the pretty girls but keeps getting the crap beat out of him.

Locke is Rich Brooks – just when you think he’s done for, he makes a comeback.

Hurley is Les Miles – how can one dude be so lucky (or not)!

Hurley is also  Phil Fulmer – I mean, c’mon!

Charley is Vandy – you kinda like him, but he’s dead.

Desmond is Steve Spurrier - I want to go back!  I want to go back!

Jin is Lou Holtz - you can’t help but like him, but you can’t understand a word he says.

Sun is Bama – big money behind her, nice trophy case, but thar’s cheatin’ in her past.

Claire is Erin Andrews – you want her to be good, but you want her to be bad.

Ben is Nick Saban - obviously!

Jules is Mark Richt - we don’t like her, then we think we like her, then she does something stupid.

Boone is Mike Shula - Boone we hardly knew ye.

Michael is Kirk Herbstreit - will you shut up already!

Tom (Mr. Friendly) is Ed Orgeron – fun to watch, but you knew it would end messily.

The Others are the ACC - we know they’re involved in it all somehow, but who really wants to have anything to do with them.

And, of course, Tim Tebow will appear in the final season as himself and will answer all the questions … or not, because no one will dare to ask for the answers.
