Mom had lived with us since my Dad passed away four years ago.  She was a very special lady – frail in body, strong in spirit, and incredibly agile in mind, even to the very end.  I could not have been blessed with a better mother.  And we were blessed to have her living with us.

Her last words to me were on Sunday when I wished her “Happy Mother’s Day”.  She said the same to me in return.  She waited for my sister to get here Sunday night, and passed very peacefully yesterday morning in our home with my sister and I holding her hands.  The Hospice nurse was also convinced she waited until after Mother’s Day, and that would be just like Mom.  She was always concerned about others before herself.

I can’t tell you all how much your words of comfort mean to all of us.  On a personal note, the VS has been a much-needed diversion for me over the past several weeks through Mom’s hospitalization and coming back home to be with us for what was to be the last 2 ½ weeks of her life.  This is a pretty amazing little corner of the internet. 

Mom’s favorite Bible verse sums up her life:

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”  Galatians 5, Verse 22
