CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT part to Bowden's ego and apparent dimentia. Listen to him speak of late, and all he ever talks about now is being one or two players away, a Charlie Ward here or a Warrick Dunn there and they are Top 5 again....lives in the past, like most soon-to-be octogenarians.
I love the way he went out and bought a bunch of hired guns (so-called top level assistants) and still went 7-6. He's offically lost it, imo, if he now thinks that coaching wins games and not the players. That offensive line of his is abhorant, and you can't win games agianst mid-level or better D-1 teams without a talented and depth-loaded offensive line.
To my knowledge there is still no recipe for making chicken salad out of chicken sh*t.
If I were a Seminole Booster today I'd be so pissed off at the college president and past AD for not showing him the door 5 years ago, I'd be spitting nails. The truly sad reality is this: for every year that they allow him to stay, that just increases the amount of years it's going to take for them to "possibly" get back into the national elite....if they had asked him to leave 5 years ago, they'd be years closer to what they used to be.
Case in point: Losing Spurrier really destroyed our program, didn't it? We all were devestated for a while, we all suffered through those feelings of not knowing if we would ever reach the heights that SOS took us to ever again, but some 5 years later, there we are, holding the Sears Trophy again, top of the world, and still are there.
There's avaluable lesson for FSU fans to learn from how we handled 2001-2004, but they won't learn from us. And that's fine with all of Gator Nation. Keep Bowden for as long as he wants to stay....that just sets them back that many years further before they can start digging out of there own self-imposed and self-created grave.
Ego in the hands of a genius (enter Spurrier or Meyer here) is a beautiful thing the watch....ego in the hands of someone who's time has long passed and moved beyond them (enter Bowden, Paterno, or even Woody Hayes here) is truly a sad thing to watch happen.
