"So let's just suppose someone from UF did send a package"

which I believe didn't happen from Ron Zook or his coaches. But what could they have sent that everyone in the free world hadn't had access to? It's all public record and easily researched on the internet. How many countless number of articles did you read this cycle about how these high schoolers are using the internet more and more to follow their recruitment? Ernie Sims's dad himself made spread sheets of depth charts and researched every school thoroughly via the net. Don't you think this kids watch Sports Center or their local sportscasts? Do you think they read the sports page from time to time? Only an ostrich with their head in the sand could possibly be oblivious to whatever items were allegedly sent among the alleged FED EX packages of press clippings. What could have possibly been sent about FSU in that pack? - Bobby Bowden is getting awfully old and likely less and less attentive to the important nuances of his job (actually teaching, and being the head coach of the team). What's the mystery there? We are talking about the guy who sits on a golf cart at the 20 yard line during practices and gives interviews to Lynn Swann DURING the game. - Big time blue chip prospects have unceremoniously left the FSU program very early in their careers. Who hasn't seen how All-World TB Eric Shelton left after one year, All-American Thomas Clayton left, and All-American Yohance Buchanan left (and quite apparently due to a physical altercation with Mickey Andrews)? - Florida state had 4 losses two years ago, and five this past season. Just open up the football media guide and there you have it. Top 10 recruiting classes of the past 3 years have apparently fallen short of expectations for some reason? Gee I wonder why? - Their starting QB decided to stay up late at a party with Co-Eds the night before two final exams, as well as blow off a lot of classes the entire semester. One would think your most important player would have a little more discipline or supervision from the coaching staff to get his butt to class. I'm sure he was having family problems and his father was very sick, but there's no justification for sleeping through the most important day of the school semester. - Their back-up QB was arrested, dismissed from the team, continues to be in deep legal doo-doo, and his alleged problems touched off an in-depth on-going investigation into the entire sports department. One would have been doing their impression of Tom Hanks in CAST AWAY to have missed this. What is the felony count for Mr. McPherson up to now... 4 last I checked. - All-ACC (his sophomore year of course, he didn't even make "honorable mention" this past season) DT arrested and suspended prior to the Bowl Game. Hello, duh! Been there, done that! Probably the player on FSU most under the press microscope, walks into a sporting goods store, negotiates an unusually large clothing discount from some doting, gold-digging store clerks. How does the saying go...It's Deja-Vu all over again? - Star WR who after repeatedly telling the press and coaches he was staying for his senior season, decides to jump to the NFL at the 11th hour. Is there any doubt Anquan Boldin would have been the feature guy in FSU's offense next year? I haven't seen his name on mock NFL draft sheets very high yet. Why did he decide to leave? Now you throw in a veteran coach jumping ship during the heart of recruiting season for a job in the SEC. An offense coordinator who apparently after three years hasn't yet got a grasp on his coaching responsibilities - or even whether he should coach from the sidelines or the press box. Veteran players causing an uprising in the locker room after embarrassing defeats. Losing to two unranked teams. And their head coach is still really, really old and signed a 5 year extension (apparently fending off retirement rumors) to "coach" the team until at least age 79. It's funny, I read all about that stuff in the last 12 months and nobody sent me a FED EX package with those clippings.
