CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT As Mud mentions, it started here with the silly "old news" responses like "Washington crosses Potomac", which evolved into sillier "old news" responses like "Newton beaned by apple", which eventually morphed into the absurd "old news" responses like "Germans bomb Pearl Harbor." That one became a favorite for awhile, until it was abbreviated to "Germans."
The explanation in that Urban Dictionary definition makes no sense. It only makes sense in its context. No other place can claim it as their own, because no other place has the history of it. I remember someone here mentioning that dawgvent had started using it, too, but that was long after it started here.
So there. Damn it.
