Boy, have we become spoiled! Playing with a team of freshmen and sophomores, we have a season about like or even a little better than most predicted, but everyone here is "disappointed" and we're talking about how our freshmen are not all that good! Billy's worst team ever?! Did you people sleep through his first two years? How about the 03-04 season? Last year?? Even the 01-02 season was less inspiring than this one. Good grief, people, get a little perspective!

Few people are as obsessed with Gator basketball as I am, but somehow I made it this far in the season without feeling disappointed, and I think our freshmen show a lot of promise. Sure, I wish we had won last night--I always do. I would have been elated if we had, but it was never something that I really expected. That we came so close makes me very hopeful for our future. With such a young team, and with such a terrific line-up of freshmen coming in, injured players coming back, and a terrific transfer just itching to play, I will have a very different outlook next season.

We're beginning to sound like delusional fans . . . dare I say like Kentucky fans. J-VILLE posted a thread from their board about which coach they want next year to replace Gillispie. They apparently have no clue that Donovan, apparently the top choice of many, had a substantially worse record his first two years than Billy G has had at Kentucky. By his fourth year, our Billy, even with a worse start, managed to have his team in the championship game.

We can't expect championships every year, or even decent tournament runs. Keep in mind that before this decade, we had ONE season in our entire history where we even sniffed a championship. We had something extremely special for two years, when even a bench player gets drafted by the NBA. We may never get another special team like that, but we will return to that level of competitiveness.

I realize that most here aren't actually expecting championship level performances out of this team, but you sure are coming across that way. It's kind of embarrassing to read this board, knowing that fans from other teams are very likely snickering at us they way we do at Kentucky.

If you look a little closer, past all this "disappointment", you'll see a heck of a lot of promise for our future.
