"with regards to JGator's post below on Tebow" |
|
CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT Thanks for posting that by the way. At our local Gator Club meeting in May, a similar story. I didn't know about it, but some friends were telling me what happened. A friend that is a Gator is a farmer with a big farm near Dellwood and Two Egg. He's in his late 30's taking over the family farm. One of the employees, also in his 30's, found out he had cancer. He went to Shands in Gainesville and our friend that has the farm is involved with UF agriculture and IFAS. He asked if the guy could maybe meet Urban Meyer or get an autograph from Tebow. Urban was not available because it was close to signing day. But they did get a call. A nurse took him to the front door of the hospital in a wheelchair, since he was too weak to walk. There Tim Tebow walked up, introduced himself and picked him up out of the wheelchair and carried him to a van. Tebow took him to the stadium and gave him the full tour. Locker room, SEC trophies, National Championship trophies, Heisman Trophies, the field and even the President's Box. Several other players also stopped by and shook his hand and gave autographs. His wife said she had never seen him so excited. They have it on dvd. Sadly, he died not long after, but that day, he was on top of the world this past Feburary. There is no telling how many stories are like that about Tebow's sincere generosity. He can't be there for everyone, but he sure does give back. |
