It's about respect for the office and basic civics. If kids get a chance to see the President speaking to them about something as innocuous and positive as doing well in school, they should take advantage of it. I learned last night that our Catholic school did not show the speech - apparently due to noise in the system. I find that pathetic. We have some very good friends who I have heard were making some of the noise. If I am asked about it or it comes up over dinner, I will frankly find it difficult not to mock them over it.
I am conservative. I voted for McCain. I think people look for reasons to get "offended" and it is a piss poor example to our kids about how to conduct oneself.
