First off it is played by children.  Might as well go watch the pee wee league playoffs or the hopscotch championships for that matter.  Boring as football is if you want to watch it you might as well watch it played at the highest level and for that there is the NFL.

Is there anything more boring than watching 22 pituitary cases stand around doing nothing while one guy tells them what some old guy thinks is their best plan of action for the next play?  The game is only an hour long yet it takes 3 hours to play it because for most of the time they aren't actually playing at all.  I suppose the average football fan is so dimwitted it takes this inordinate extra down time in between plays for him to assimilate what just happened during the previous 4-6 seconds of action; the lapse lets his (admittedly slow and inferior) brain catch up to what his eyes had seen.

Of course they stop the clock on out of bounds plays because it takes everyone so long to remember where the field is and where they're supposed to line up.  It's as if there's a membrane around the field and once someone crosses it all the participants and officials have their short term memory erased and it takes a minute or so for them to orient themselves.  More boring wasted time.

Then there is punting.  Euphamisms like strategy and field position are used to hide what it really is: surrender, an abject admission of failure and defeat.  It's quitting and doesn't belong in any sport unless you're quitting for the entire game and walking away.  How boring is it to watch a team give up 3-4 times a game only to give them a second and third and fourth chance?  Ridiculous.  It's almost communist in nature.

And that's just a few highlights of what makes college football such a crushing bore and pathetic waste of time as a complete list would fill volumes and take effort and time which quite frankly the "sport" isn't worth wasting on it.
