Gators to THREE national championship games in the last ten years! BACK TO BACK National Championships are a big freaking deal.... for a long long time. Very few basketball coaches have led a team to one Championship game, a very small group have actually one one and the fraternity of those who have won two is tiny. He has taken the Gator basketball team to the "next level" following upon another great, Coach Lon Kruger who I still greatly admire and cheer for. He is one of only four (Dean Smith, Joe B Hall and Bobby Knight being the others) to play in the Final Four and win the national championships as a coach. He coaches, recruits and exemplifies the very best in collegiate athletics. He is the winningest basketball coach in the University of Florida's history. Coach Donovan and Coach Meyer were named co-chairmen of an effort to raise $50 million to support the Florida Opportunity Scholars program and he and his family have demonstrated many other very positive contributions to the University and his Gainesville community. He is greatly respected within the coaching community as one of the very best in the profession. IMHO it is outrageous to carry around and post unspecified "problems" with this GREAT Coach who has done so much for my alma mater and he has my absolute full support as long as our athletic director sees fit to keep him and IMHO he earned every dollar afforded his salary this year.
