"Seriously, what's not to like?..." |
|
CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT How could you really "hate" Tim Tebow? I say that with all sincerity. It's not that you can't be a competitor and want to "kill" the other team. Or be a "fiery competitor" who show your emotions. Or it's not that you're a rival and want to goof on your competitor. It's part of the mystique and fun of college football. Seriously, would it be as much fun if you couldn't do those things? Or have someone to idolize now and then, like Tebow? He lead you through a "Golden Era" of football you may never see again. You might hate the media saturation, or the over the top fan adulation, (make that idolization?). You might goof on the whole phenomena. Rivals goof on each other, or their players, even Tebow. I admit it , I do. And most of us do for that matter. It's where it crosses over the line. Being mean spirited or spiteful. But, here's the serious part. Sometimes, when it comes to Tebow, doesn't it feel almost like a messiah (and I say that with respect) has been delivered among the "den of thieves". He's that good a person, and you just know that the haters and false idolaters (to carry through the theme) won't bring him down. It's whether he can use the bully pulpit he has to effect change. Dunn sure has. College sports really does need more people like a Dunn, or a Wuerffel, or a Rolle, or a Brooks or a Tebow. They are role models that other players, and our youth in general, watch and emulate. They, along with our coaches, administration, and even us, might just help stem the descent we seem to be spiraling into these days.
