Clearly nobody wants innocent lives lost but if any are Saddam and ONLY Saddam can be blamed. For the left I can only say this: Seemingly ALL Americans said after 9/11 they were behind Dubyah's statement that "The US will not distinguish between the terroists themselves and those who finance, harbor, and give safe haven to them." It is clear that Saddam fits this description. It seemed at the time that the left was all for "striking back" as we all were. Inaction I believe would be criticized just as Dubyah's action is by the left. IMHO, I am glad that our President is making good on his promise that he would take the fight to the terrorist community instead of waiting for the next 9/11 to occur. This is to say nothing of the fact that Saddam has failed to live up to his end of the deal made after the Gulf War in as much as he still has WMD and chemical and biological weapons. The hilarious thing is that weeks ago he insisted he didn't have them and now threatens to use the very weapons he denied he had should war indeed occur. His Hitler like treatment of the Jews duirng the Holocaust that he practices on his own people is IMHO reason enough to give this guy a one way ticket to hell even if none of the above were factors also.
By my own admission, I post in the lounge a fraction of the amount that some of you do. The primary reason for this is I have caught myself hurling insults to those who differ politically with me and some of those same folks are people who I otherwise hold in the highest regard. At this point in our nation's history and with a brother serving as a Major in the United States Army I feel compelled to at least notch which side of the ledger I fall on with regard to this war. A war IMO that is moral in every sense. Sometimes for the protection of our own and for the greater good of all most notibly the Iraqi people in this case, military force is the only way to ensure the safety of the future. This is the meaning of President Ronald Reagan's "Peace through Strength" and this philosophy I might add also resulted in the safe rescue of yet another brother of mine in the Greneda Invasion as he was a med student at St. George's School of Medicine. Have no illusions folks. My brother laid on the floor of his dorm while machine gun fire went on outside his window. That military action WAS warranted and justified as is this one IMHO.
God Bless Our Troops.
