I was in the Sugar Bowl for the beatdown of the sows in ninety six.  This though...this was different.  ESPIN campaigned all year long as did much of the national media.  They didn't just report on events, they desperately tried to shape events by denigrated Florida pretty much all year long for whatever reason.  They would have been happy with a Meatchicken rematch.  They would have been happy with the Condoms playing OSU.  The one thing they absolutely did not want, could not stand, that was absolute anathema to them was the Florida Gators playing OSU.  AU had gotten royally jobbed two years prior and UF was "unworthy"......"didn't even belong on the same field"....."nobody outside of Gainesville wanted to see that matchup"...."they should put troops around the field to prevent Florida from entering the stadium"....etc etc etc.  JEEZUS H. KEEERIST.  I had never seen anything like that before and have never seen anything like that since.

Of course all the Big Televen homers bought into it.......them being THE most provincial fans I have ever seen in my life.  Yes...they really do show a sissy boy slap party like Northwestern vs Minnesota or Ill-noize up there over a matchup of SEC heavyweights like Auburn-vs Bama on TV....No, I'm NOT kidding.  I was living in Minneapolis and boy did I hear it all year long from all the Big Televen homers.  Then, what the Mediots absolutely did not want happened.  In the lead up to the game all I heard was how Florida didn't belong, the game would be over at halftime, blah blah blah.  I just smiled and said "OK".  I had watched OSU several times that year.  They were S-L-O-W.  I tried to tell them all year than many of those "fabulous" Troy Smith long TD passes wouldn't be long TD passes in the SEC....they would be SACKS.  They scoffed.  "grin".  "OK".

Then they get an opening KO TD despite blatant holding that was not called.  All the Big Televen homers in the bar where the Gator club meets up there cheered and made statements to the effect of "here we go".  Then the Gators proceeded to absolutely FEMALE DOG SLAP them for the rest of the night.  Every phase of the game, you name it, the Gators D-O-M-I-N-A-T-E-D.  Yep, sure enough those spectacular pass plays were SACKS.......amazing what happens when you play an SEC Defense ain't it?  They were right about one thing.....the game was indeed over by halftime. 

  They were utterly humiliated.  The looks of shock on their faces were priceless the next week.  The uncomfortable refusal to make eye contact with me as I wore my Gator pin on my suit the whole next week.....I had a perma-shizzle eating grin on my face all week long. 

The national mediots were forced to SUCK IT.  Even better were those who were not man enough to admit that they were DEAD WRONG the whole time in everything they had been telling us all year long were the ones who in a massive fit of butt-hurt pique frantically wailed excuses like UF's Bitch Albom or the idiot from Texas who appears on one of ESPIN's talk shows in the morning.  The Spu-ahts Rep-ooooaaa-tahs who don't know their asses from a hole in the ground when it comes to college football were so humiliated they lacked the BALLS to even utter a word about their humiliation and shame on Sunday morning....I have not watched since because such an act of craven cowardice shows they are unworthy of my smallest fart, much less my time.
