"One play, and other random thoughts on the day....."

CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
END OF CONTEXT

USF is driving, about to make it 14-14.  And then they fumble.  And before you know it, the Gators seem to once again be the mighty Gators.  Who knows what happens if USF scores there?  One play….just ask Marshall about their fumble Thursday night, and what that one play meant to them.  One play can define a season.  It’s early, but we may look back on Duke Lemmons’ recovery of a USF fumble as one of the biggest plays of the season for the 2010 edition of the Gators.

Random thoughts:

1.       The heat.  This really needs to be addressed – there simply should not be any noon games in at least the first 2 weeks of September for teams in the Deep South.  Let the northern games take the Noon slots.  It’s a matter of safety for the players, the fans, and everyone involved.

2.       If the ACC was a stock, Monday morning in the market would be really ugly for them.

3.       Whoever chose “When Johnny Comes Marching Home” for the Bulls band at halftime needs a history lesson.  A Civil War song for a 9/11 halftime probably wasn’t the best choice.  Having said that, overall the halftime show for the Gator Band and the part they did jointly with the Bulls Band was outstanding.  Well done, and for any band members reading this, I know you were baking out there (and I noticed one Bulls band member had to leave the field during the performance).

4.       I was really encouraged by the Gators taking charge in the second half.  There’s still plenty to work on, but some playmakers are really starting to step up.  JB made some very nice throws, and he had a couple of plays that were head-scratchers (a really bad sack that was totally on him, the pass to nobody other than Pouncey, and another one he was trying to throw away that was in danger of being picked off).

5.       Did I mention it was hot?

6.       How about those James Madison Dukes?!?  Very happy for all associated with my Mom’s alma mater.  And games like that make college football the greatest game of all.

7.       I wish OSU had gone RUTS on Miami.  Their “fan base” won’t recognize this, but that score could have been much worse.
