...is that SOS is all about SOS first, and makes decisions on that basis without much (if any) regard for anyone else.  While he was at UF, his own goals and UF's goals were for the most part mutually beneficial, and UF did indeed benefit greatly from his tenure here.  In cases where what UF needed from SOS was something that SOS didn't care about and required some effort on his part, and that he didn't perceive to benefit him directly, well, that's where the rubber stopped meeting the road.

In short, he was a die-hard Gator when it suited his purposes and didn't involve much if any sacrifice on his part.  As we have seen from his actions since he was here.....well, he isn't quite as die-hard as he led us all to believe.

Having said all that, I do like Steve, warts and all.  But continued willful ignorance of his foibles by some in our fanbase hasn't done UF any good at all.  It made Urban Meyer's job more difficult than it needed to be, and it made Zook's job well nigh impossible (not that he would have been successful in any event).
