"RE: Yeah but man that was a hell of a trip" |
|
CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT same here. But I was quite a bit older. 23 I guess. So I stayed in a crap hotel downtown. I mean, really horrible across from a hospital. My friend left me in the French Quarter before midnight (New Year's Eve) because he was smart enough to realize any more drunkeness would cause him to pass out in the street. But I stayed on. Was too gone to even find my way back a few hours later. Asked some directions to get myself back (I think it is a straight street and only an idiot could get lost...even a totally skunked idiot) from scary locals walking about in their streets at 3am. And yet they didn't kill me, or steel from me and I got to the hotel. So I went to the room and my pal had ordered pizza. It had just been delievered. Sounded really good to me. Then I woke up at 11am. Texas A&M was playing in the Cotton Bowl on TV, I think. But what I wont forget is I had pizza all over me. And my friend, sleeping on the other side of the bed, had two large pizza boxes sitting on his chest (he was still passed out). Pizza slices covering him. The bed was covered in smeared tomato sauce. It looked like we had killed 2 hookers (and maybe we did, I don't recall). We hadn't eaten one single slice of that pizza between us. And now it wasn't worth eating. So that's how my Sugar Bowl day started out. I remember walking like Igor all the way to the Superdome that afternoon. Every step was a challenge. A head pounding ordeal. It was like climbing Mount Everest just to get there. And then I got to watch Jerome Bettis cream us while, as said before, we tried to throw 75 hail mary passes for no particular reason. If I had come across some rope, and a means to get to the top of the dome that night, it woulda seeemed an easier way out than going back to that rat motel! But no, we went back to Bourbon Street and partied all night long again. And suddenly there were 10 million Notre Dame fans in the streets (8 the night before). Basically, not one of my favorite trips. But I won't forget it. |
