...you.  Look at all the coverage over the last month.  It is about "all the problems of the NCAA", the "Broken system", the "football machine", etc, etc, etc.  It is all true.

BUT....

This is still a deflection. 

The B10 spent the last 20 years getting their brains crushed in by the SEC and was happy to proclaim that the reason was the SEC "was full of thugs", "has zero academic standards", has no compliance", etc, etc, etc.  That has been the mantra of that conference from the Comissioner to each and all of the people surrounding the schools in the Big10.  They do it right.  They are elite.  They are at a different standard.  A different level.  Playing at a bar above all those others. 

Now THEY have their hand in the cookie jar.  It turns out the culture of cheating is the same in Ohio as it is in Alabama.  It turns out they recruit piles of thugs.  It turns out they cover it all up. 

SOOOOO.....now we suddenly need to look at the system.  Only now.  Only now that the Big10 is in trouble.  Suddenly the B10 comm. has a plan to pay players.  Suddenly they have a mantra that "everyone does it because of some systemic problem in the NCAA and culture."  Again, that may all be true, but you knew that was true for 20 years.  The B10 suddenly "found Jesus" because they are exposed as scumbags as big as any. 

NOW, we have to here 48 of 50 stories on the subject being about the "bigger picture problem".  That's total BS!  Don't get sucked in to this examination.  The B10 and Ohio State deserves their come-upance on a level as high as has ever been done.  Do you really think, had this been UF, that a national discussion of "what is wrong with NCAA sports" would be going on?  Get real!  We'd just be another SEC team gone bad, as expected.  And Ohio State and the B10 would be right there to denounce UF and the SEC as outlaws in the "gentleman's sport" that they uphold. 

The discussion about a broken NCAA is a worthy one.  Just don't let the B10, P10 and their schools lead you down a path they'd never allow for the SEC.  Those conferences and their teams are caught being cheaters and they need to be displayed as cheaters.  Not "everyone does it".  Eff that.  Too late for that.
