...for about eight local kids, all of whom are dirt poor and either have no parents or have parents who are incapable of providing what they needed. But, all of them had athletic talents that could be their ticket out of their circumstances. She knew them through her own kids. She mentored these boys throughout high school to help keep them on the right track. She tutored them academically to help them keep their grades up. They have stayed at her house when they had no place else to stay. When it was time for recruiting, she personally drove several on their recruiting trips, and she bought plane tickets for others. She made sure that every single one of them got a college scholarship, even if it was to Podunk U. She had no affiliation with any of the colleges they visited or ended up attending. When they need something now, they call her. I feel confident in saying that not a single one of these boys would be in college today without her help. At least one or two might not even be alive. She is Leanne Touhy times eight.

I suppose that the NCAA, if they knew about these "benefits" she provided, would punish those boys and, perhaps, the institutions where they ended up. The NCAA can kiss my ass.
