"It is only a game. "

CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
END OF CONTEXT

The internet has made it easy to communicate, meet new people, send birthday greetings and with the click of few buttons send a sympathy note.  I am sure AUBIGJOE was a great guy, I didn't know him but as I said, a few back spaces a few deletes, I sent something into cyberspace wishing him and his family peace.

Seems a little cheap and perhaps cheats life a bit.

In 1994 my wife was pregnant with our daughter.  On Monday before the Auburn game that year, the nurse at the OB office told her that something was wrong with AFP test they had run.  They told us not worry, the test is oftem inaccurate but something may be wrong with our unborn baby.  They said they would rerun the test and let us know when they got the results.

Well we didn't hear anything by Wednesday so we called. No News. Same deal on Thursday.  On Friday they told us they would LETS US KNOW WHEN THEY KNEW SOMETHING.  I was pissed to say the least.  We headed to Gainesville and went to see this movie we had heard so much about, Pulp Fiction.  The movie was really cool and was a distraction from time to time but no matter how much we got into the movie, we would always wonder about our baby.

The next day, we went to the game and watched our DBs get torched over and over.  I'd get all pissed off and then remember our other issue.  Seemed the game was not so important.  The movie was not so good.

We got back home and called the Doctor on Monday and spoke directely to him.  He said, "heck everything is fine, they used the wrong date when they ran the test. Didn't they tell you?  They found out on Tuesday!"  He said he was going to give someone a real ass chewing and apologized for what happened.

You know, I am sure someone got an ass chewing, but maybe they should have gotten a thank you because they helped put in perspective how little that football game really meant to me.  My daughter is now a beautiful 16 year old.  When I see Pulp Fiction for the next time, it will likely be my 767th time watching it,  I will think of my daughter.  When we play Auburn tomorrow night, I will think of my daughter.

Some people in Alabama will likely think of BigJoe when the Florida game rolls around from here on out and you know what, that is OK.

GO GATORS, WAR DAMN EAGLE---remember what is really important though.
