CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT I know I said I wouldn't be "poasting" for a while, but -- having trouble getting a lot of sleep right now -- and, after reading this board and WHAB, I just wanted to tell y'all, "THANKS!" The outpouring of support from everywhere has been incredible and humbling. We are hurting -- my family, as well as the families of Sam Clayton and Walker. But, believe me when I tell you that your thoughts and prayers are VERY MUCH FELT AND APPRECIATED!
Today is the visitation for Mason, Sam Clayton and Walker. For those of you inclined to do so, please say a short prayer for Lynn and I, Sam and Kim and Chris and Christine around 4 p.m. this afternoon. The memorial service for all three of the boys and funerals is tomorrow, so prayers are also sought then. And for the days, weeks and months ahead.
To those of you who have experienced such a tragic event as this before and shared, "THANK YOU!" To those of you who have not -- my prayer is that you will never do so. As someone stated, this truly is every parents' worst nightmare!
Am not going to get all religious here, but am going to get a little bit. If such is offending to you, fell free to stop reading here and just know how thankful we are for your thoughts and ask that you continue to keep us there!
Psalm 39 says: "Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered—how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.”
And James 4:14 says, "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."
Mason, Sam Clayton and Walker are supposed to bury Lynn and I, Sam and Kim and Chris and Christine; not what is about to happen tomorrow. But I thank God for allowing Lynn and I to have our "mist" for 19 years!
The lives these three young men have touched in their short time here is incredible. And the lives they are continuing to touch is immeasurable. The stories being told by the young people from both Oxford and Starkville who have stopped by the house have truly been a blessing.
I will go in to some of these incredible stories of how the hand of God has been all over this situation at a later date, as I have to leave soon to go up to the church with priceless and dear photos of Mason so they can be used for the visitation and memorial service. Ole Miss is busing all their KA pledge brothers down here from Oxford, and two additional buses for Ole Miss students who either went to high school with our sons or have gotten to know them on campus have been reserved. Houston Nutt is sending three autographed footballs by the Rebels for us to bury with our boys.
I'll stop here for now, but thank you again for allowing me to "vent." I'll leave you for now with these two passages from Scripture:
Philippians 4:19: "And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." -- Isaiah 41:10
God bless all of you. Hug your kids and tell them you love them. Call your parents and tell them the same.
Hotty Toddy!
