"At this point, LSU and Bama" |
CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT If they both win out it's a no-brainer. The argument about rematches citing OSU/Mich from 2006 is invalid - that conference hadn't won 5 BCS championships in a row clearly asserting its dominance over all college football as the SEC has. It is not only possible but likely that the two best teams in the nation right now would come from the SEC, and that's what this game is supposed to be - a matchup of the two best teams. Not the two best teams who also won their conference, not the two best teams who also are undefeated, not the two best teams who haven't already played each other, not the two best teams that put up xbox offensive numbers when playing in their second rate conferences, but the two best teams. No other qualifier matters
All evidence to this point, both from this season and the past 5, indicates those two teams are LSU and Bama. Oregon has lost their last two matchups with SEC teams including a double digit loss at a neutral stadium - is that the repeat we want? OK has the worst loss of any of the one loss teams and we've seen them exposed on the big stage repeatedly since win over FSU a decade ago. Bama hasn't lost to anyone outside the SEC in 3 years and of those 4 loses all were to SEC teams ranked in the top 20, 3 of them in the top 10 and 2 of them either finished the year ranked #1 or are currently #1 and only one of those losses was by more than 3 points including their lone loss this year in which the clear #1 team needed OT and a debatable interception call at the goal line to squeak by them. All that while playing in easily the toughest conference in America. If everyone holds serve Bama is the team that deserves the second spot vs LSU in the BCSC and it's really not even close. |
