CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT As an evangelical I see this w/ several facets. TT is making a bold stand for his faith -- one that feels aggressive and intrusive to many. Some of this is the nature of his message and some is his style in delivering the message. I am in sympathy w/ his message but question the wisdom of his style of delivery. Evangelicals operate w/ a conviction -- not just a belief -- that they belong to God and that they live for him. Many feel that it is a betrayal of that calling to be less than bold w/ their testimony. TT has surely been told by many who have his ear and confidence that he must not fail in the proper use of the platform he has been given. He seems to act as though to be other than he is would be to act as though he were ashamed of the Savior. I can appreciate that and feel the weight of the argument even where I would counsel him to be less forward at times. People take some offense -- not because TT acts as a hypocrite. He does not and it is just that fact that offends some. TT clearly believe this and lives as though he believes it. He acts as though if he were required to choose between football and XY he would walk away from football and not even pause to clean out his locker. That is what un-nerves some of his critics. what if TT is not just bold, aggressive, confident and persistent -- what if he is right?
