"I certainly haven't run the numbers.....far from it.....but my impression/recollection" |
Message Replied To ========== The affirmation I was looking for. * ============================== is that, for the most part, the HOF has been populated (mostly, but certainly not completely) by somewhat substantive or thoughtful posts. Many of these were also starred, but many weren't. There have also been short zingers in the HOF, but i think the majority would be what you might call "deeper" or more memorable. Again off the top of my head, i'm thinking there were appx 15 to 20 such posts every few weeks/month. Starred posts, however, are often zingers, or pictures, or benchwarming smack, aren't they? I've seen lots and lots and lots of stuff get starred solely by virtue of brief, momentary context, either within the thread or that particular day's events. And surely (yeah, i called you that) they number in the dozens if not three digits in a month's span. Many of them utterly forgettable throwaways. Don't get me wrong.....i'm the master of both styles.... ![]() I just want to know two things. 1) Is Albert still going to have executive-like approval power? Because if he isn't, i've now got to figure out what to do with the rest of these re-giftable Harry & David giftbaskets i've held on to for 2) Do you think hitting 400 home runs, or being the winning pitcher in 250 games, should count as automatic approval for admission in to the MLB Hall of Fame, solely by virtue of the accumulated statistic, and without regard to other aspects of the athlete's game, nor comparison to others' contemporary accomplishments? (ps. It's okay if the answer is yes. We all still love you guys.) |
