Mea culpa, me culpa, mea maxima culpa....

Here, let me explain. On Saturday I took my girls to the zoo. Shortly before tip-off I texted a friend and asked him to give me updates. I smiled proudly throughout a time a the zoo, and was extra happy to be wearing a nice Gator golf shirt. Dunks, Technical fouls, Time outs, foul trouble. It was sounding excellent. And I was confident!

Well, it was very hot and the girls got tired so we headed for the car. My friend continued to text me updates along the way. While it seemed to be slowly slipping away, I still felt we were safe. We finally reached the car and as everyone got loaded up I turned on radio and located the game on AM. The announcers were obviously excited and I got a sinking feeling in my stomach. Through the crackle and pop of the AM station and my girl's displeasure in not playing music I hear the play by play announcer reach orgasm as some loserville douche sinks a basket to take the first lead of the game. From there it was bedlam. The announcers were yelling, my kids were whining and my wife was reminding me that I KNEW I should not have turned the game on. I wished I were in the Lion's pen.

There I sat. Knowing what I'd done. Thinking how no one would ever find out. I turned the dial back to FM and my girls napped on the way home. My wife politely changed the subject and gave us something else to talk about. But when we arrived home I was filled with guilt. I signed on to the VS to 1) see if it had imploaded and 2) atone for my mistake . And what did I find? A scapegoat. My own Lee Harvey Oswald. And so I said nothing.

I haven't slept well the last 2 nights and my Monday has been no picnic. It's the guilt. And Karma. And so here I am.

And uh, I just wanna say one thing. Um, to the fans and everybody in Gator Nation....ummmm.................I'm sorry. Um, extremely sorry. You know we were hoping for a Final Four, that was our goal, something we only dreamed of at the start of the year. But I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this. You have never seen any fan in the entire country not watch Gator Basketball as hard I as I will not watch next season and you will never see someone push the off button as hard as I will push the off button and you will never see a family not watch any harder than we will next season.
