Memorial Day exists to honor the memory and sacrifices of those who paid the ultimate price - death - in the service of their country. So do not thank me on Monday. I was lucky. Honor the fallen. Remember those who gave their lives so that those of us who served in relatively peaceful times could have the ability to do so. Veterans' Day honors those who have served, and Armed Forces Day honors those who currently serve. Thank me in November. But on Monday, let's focus on what the holiday really means. Carry on. |
