Message Replied To ========== Question for you dog people Do you look down on people who keep their dogs outside the majority of the time? We have been looking to adopt 1 or 2 rescue labs and I've now been turned down twice by rescue services based on the fact that I plan for the dogs to be outside the majority of the time. I'm not planning on leashing the dog(s) unless we are walking or away from home... I'm planning on putting in a wireless fence and letting the dog(s) run free on our property, which is about 1.5 acres. I have two kids (12 and 9) who like to be outside and will spend a lot of time with the dogs and I will give the dog(s) free reign to come in and out of the garage and give the dog(s) nice doghouses outside. I guess I'm just wondering when things crossed over and people who keep dogs outside became pariahs. The way this last lady talked to me, it was obvious that she had distaste for the concept because she preached at me about my "things" being more important than the animal. I thought that was a little condescending... honestly a dog is still a dog, even if it can be an important family member, and dogs are built by nature to be outside and families can still love and care for the dog even if it's an outside dog. I'd just like to hear some thoughts from other people on this. ==============================
