The best coaching job in the SEC is UGA.....

They have more resources than Alabama and the expectations of Mississippi State. Richt would have been fired three times already if he worked at most other SEC schools.

 People will call for Muschamp's head this year in year 2 unless he miracles out a championship. Florida is a great job in a lot of senses but there is a reason our longest coaching tenure is only 12 years. And that guy was an alum who still basically got ran off.

==============================

the assertion that SOS basically got "run out."

Keep in mind that I'm a BIG fan of SOS, still am even though he is a cock. But let's not kid ourselves and let's stop buying into the excuses made by SOS and the stories lobbied by Dooley.

SOS was a God at Florida. He was untouchable. If he desired, he could have retired at UF. But that is not what he desired. He chased the dragon in the NFL and got burned in doing so. He has nobody to blame but himself.

Sure, SOS built UF to a point that expectations became substantial...unreasonable perhaps. But humans are humans and they are no different in Gainesville than they are in Athens. If a Georgia man were to build UGA into a perennial power then expectations would rise among the red and black the same as they did for those in orange and blue.

And the refusal to recognize this simple fact is what is so very frustrating. But people want a scape goat. SOS needed one for being intimidated by what he built and falling for the siren song of the NFL, before being crushed on DC's rocks. Dooley wants a scape goat for his stories. And that is what they are, stories. He rails against Gator fans the way a Baptist preacher would the demons plaguing our morality. Lastly, some of us need a scape goat as well. We could label it self-loating or self-righteousness ...no matter the source for the disdain of our own ... we too like to find a source for SOS' departure that would allow us to blame something.

But the truth is that nobody is to blame. SOS attempted to test his abilities in the NFL and escape the pressures of Florida, it's as simple as that and there is nothing wrong in him doing so.

With that said, had SOS built up Georgia, or any other SEC program, the pressures would have elevated in those communities also. There is NOTHING uniquely different about the Gator Nation in this regard.
