First of all, ’we should stop scheduling teams like Bowling Green and other directional schools.’

True
False

There is nothing good that comes from these games. For the fans, they're not something we look forward to, they're not enjoyable to watch, they're not enjoyable to talk about afterwards. And we talk about stuff.

If we're winning by 40 points in the second quarter, we turn into statistics fiends: Fifteen-yard pass completion??!!!!! That adds 0.45 yards per play against our defense. There is no way we're in the top 10 in that category now. All is lost!!!!! The game is not enjoyable anymore because we reach the point where we need to stomp on all the eggs. And for the women, who don't give a damn about important things like that, they lose track of everything entirely and start ritualized grooming.

By the 3rd quarter, even the men are doing this.

And if the game is competitive, then we're personally offended at everything. I hate god now. I will continue to hate god. Screw god.

...but anyway, I think we did learn things about this team yesterday.

ONE. Our defensive line is really good. They are very active and got held a lot. There were so many horse-collars on our DTs. So frustrating. They still absolutely punished BGSU QB Matt Schilz.

TWO. Our linebackers are small. They're fast, but they're still small. They lack the size to really be effective against strong running teams. I have no doubt though that they're going to be blitz monsters and absolutely disrupt passing teams.

THREE. Our secondary is a weak point. They have difficulties covering players, tackling players and having field awareness. I don't mind so much about coverage, but for GOD SAKES, learn how to tackle a player in open space. We gave up so many first-downs because our secondary couldn't wrap up. BGSU's receivers were pretty much all rookies with very little game experience. We should have absolutely shut them down, but couldn't. If our secondary plays the game they should have, our DL would have looked ALL-world. And, statistically, we could have had ALL OF THE EGGS

FOUR. We have no faith in our Quarterback(s) at all. Zero. No Faith. They, in turn, have no confidence in their abilities. This is not something that's going to change. Don't look for them to change dramatically next week. We called bubble screens and passes out to the flat because we don't trust them to throw down-field at all. They have no accuracy.

FIVE. We called a really bad game offensively. When we're leading by THREE points, you have to pass the ball. Running the ball, HELPS BGSU. It slows down the game for THEM. It takes the pressure off THEIR offensive. At some point, the coach has to change his plans, whatever they were. We didn't have much success running the ball on short-yardage because BGSU knew there would be no play-action. It was all going to be rushes up the middle. We made it so easy for them.

SIX. Despite everyone knowing we were going to run, Mike Gillislee is great running back. There were 8 men in the box and he found creative ways to find lanes. Kudos to him. If we ever do get a passing game, he's doing to look very, very, very good.

SEVEN. We are an undisciplined team in every phase. We can't tackle, we draw penalties, we don't play smart. With one or two players, it's on them. With an entire team, it's on the coaches. Sorry.
