While preparing to travel to Texas, it struck me that I am ambivalent about the outcome of the game Saturday. Sure, I want the Gators to win. I wouldn't spend nearly a grand to root against the college football team with which I have bled, cried, and celebrated for almost 50 years. It is just that I have no expectations. None whatsoever.

There is nothing about this team--the coaching staff, last season's outcome, or even last week's game that inspires confidence or anticipation. It's like everyone is going through the motions--saying the expected, doing less, explaining why things didn't work, but inspiring nothing.

I am not a frontrunner. I've attended many heartbreaks--Fourth and Dumb, Appleby to Washington, 62-24, being Croomed, and several meltdowns at Auburn--but never have I been so disillusioned as to whether things will get better. 

I want out of this funk. Lord willing, I will try. In College Station this week, in Knoxville the next, I will be there, cheering loudly, trying to find a decent radio broadcast, and praying for something to return my enthusiam. Please respond Gators. I don't want to wait until next year.
