I'm sure the various fanbases across the land have high hopes before the season started.

We're no different, hell we sometimes lead the nation in delusions of grandeur without a speck of evidence to the fruition to come.

I love Arkansas with all my heart

but sometimes I want to storm down to the tailgates every Saturday

and beat the ever living crap out of every single of those souls, ex-players, media, boosters, beer-drinking, butt sniffing, crotch-rashing armchair coaches, popcorn vendors that think any title from Sun Belt to SEC is just going to be delivered on a silver platter.

How the hell did ANYONE become so blind so stupid as to think the same man who was the chief architect to one of the greatest turnarounds of a program in history and the same man who did the very same act in lowly Louisville Kentucky is also the same man who screwed the fanbases of Louisville, Atlanta, and now Fayetteville... oh and screwed a hot blonde along the way ... then fire the man and expect everything to become all hunkydory.

I was very optimistic with 10-2. I would be shocked if we get 6 wins now.

I understand how the "fan game" is played. I'm an ardent student of the game. I know how certain boards click, which ones to stay the hell away from because that particular fanbase hasn't seen a decent season worth cheering about in years, which ones that are more tolerant (VS - prime example and yes that was a lousy attempt at brownnosing), which ones are just plain hate filled (Hogville, every scUM board), and which ones are run like a Soviet death camp (the old Pigpen, Tider Insider)

I love the game of football so much. But I am learning in my semi-old age that it is indeed just a silly game and inside the silly game are more silly games. Mindless entertainment. Lately, reality has been my bucket of cold ice water. If my team never wins a title, it'll be fine. Sure a bit disappointing but I feel bad for those who confuse team success as personal accomplishment by way of false-deity worship. I think Paul Bear Bryant would be creeped out by the tattoo of himself on the body of local trailer trash, God love him.

Hey, I wish I could say my team won 14 titles. OR 28.

But when I see the face of my mother who gave everything to see me succeed in life, who cares if my team only has 1.

I'm a better man because of a mother who loved me so much. I may not have much time left with her, but dammit I will enjoy every day I do have, same goes for my totally awesome and don't-deserve-them wife and kiddos. Time is indeed too short. Enjoy your weekend folks!
