Five combat jumps is absolutely unheard of even for the WWII generation. Then he fought in Korea and went on to lead from the front as the senior NCO in one of the bloodiest days in Vietnam. You may have seen his life accurately portrayed in the movie We Were Soldiers. I've heard he was actually a kind man out of uniform. RIP, Sergeant Major. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basil_L._Plumley
