I was born in 1977. In 1984, my dad finally decided I was old enough to go to UF-UGA and not be scarred for life. We didn’t have enough seniority to get UF-UGA tickets then so we walked around trying to scalp tickets. Everyone wanted $50 or more for the game. I begged my dad to take one more walk around RV city. Sure enough some Bull Gator had a hand full of tickets – he asked my dad if he was taking me (to make sure we wouldn’t flip them) and sold two to my dad for face. Almost immediately, someone offered my dad $100 per ticket. He looked at the guy, looked at me and my sad puppy dog eyes, and said no thanks. We sat in the upper deck that day and watched as we beat the HELL out of UGA and they carried Coach Hall off the field. We haven’t missed one in Jacksonville since.
