"Interesting, this "house money" analogy."

Have we already surpassed preseason expectations, both W-L and standard of performance?  Hell yes.  Do we seem almost certainly bound for a season of more victories than almost anyone expected? Sure.

But let me ask you a couple more questions.  First, given that most only expected us to win from one to maybe three of A&M, LSU, USC, UGA and FSU, and that we're already 3-0 including two which rank higher than the next two.....would you really be satisfied with 3-2 now?  Really?

We didn't win those games because it just flukishly turned out that most of those teams decided to suck......we won them because we're pretty consistently playing some good football....much better football than we played last year.

Let me put it another way. If your B-/C+ student surprisingly buckled down one semester and brought home straight A's, would you just pat em on the back and say great job, you've already gotten as many A's as we thought you'd get the whole year, now you can just go back to goofing off and playing video games and getting B's and C's....?

Of course not.

House money is something you're happy to have for the few fleeting moments you have it, because you know damn well it's eventually going to end up right back where it started, in the house's coffers.  It's fun, but you know it isn't going to last.

This team has improved its standard, and is now not only better at what it does than it used to be, it's better at what it does than the opponents are.  It's better than Georgia is.  I'm not saying i'm going to hit the roof if UGA beats us, i'm saying it will require not only a great game by them but a fairly measurable regression on our part.  And such regression, in and of itself, is not even something that would infuriate me.....but it would be surprising and disappointing.  And not because it would ruin an undefeated season, or a 10/11/12/whatever-win season......i'm not counting any of those eggs, just this one.

When we have a better football team than UGA, we win.....almost always.  We have the better team this year.  I sure don't want to rob anyone of the joy that comes with a hard-fought, unexpected victory.....everyone knows that's something The Gator Nation has lost some of over the last few years.  But i just don't think we're playing this game with any kind of "found" emotional currency, or riding a winning streak that is the sum of a collection of fluky victories.  We're playing this one game as a team that is measurably better than the opponent for this one game.

Sorry for the ramble. Just some scattered thoughts.  I'm not looking ahead, or behind.....just taking these games one at a time.   Go Gators!
